News stations across the country covered the story.
People everywhere were moved by the loyalty of a dog who refused to abandon his partner when the rest of the world already had.
For Marcus, however, the medal never mattered most.
What mattered was simpler.
Atlas believed him.

A Legacy of Loyalty
Marcus and Atlas continued working together for several more years before Atlas finally retired.
