In shock, I could hardly believe what I was seeing. Yet, there he was, just as distraught as I was.

An unimaginable truth revealed

Very quickly, Émile told me the incredible truth.

The shipwreck he survived left him unconscious for a long time, far from home. During his convalescence, his relatives allegedly led him to believe that I had started a new life elsewhere and no longer wished to have any contact with him.

For my part, I had received official confirmation of his disappearance.

Two people deeply in love… separated for thirty years because of a huge misunderstanding.

The encounter that changed everything

What finally allowed the truth to come out was a happy accident.

A few weeks earlier, my daughter Charlotte, now an adult, had met Émile without knowing who he really was. During our conversation, several disturbing details emerged, notably their incredible physical resemblance.

Intrigued, Émile gradually realized that Charlotte could be his daughter.

It was when he discovered a photo of me among the young woman’s belongings that he realized the whole truth: the one he had never forgotten had never left our city.

And that I, too, had been waiting for it all these years.

A second chance that life finally offers us

Our meeting under the willow tree marked the beginning of a new chapter.

After three lost decades, we chose not to let time steal any more moments from us. Very quickly, we began to rebuild what we had been forced to abandon long ago.

A few weeks after our reunion, we were even preparing for our wedding, with the immense emotion of seeing our daughter participate in this long-awaited union.

Because deep down, when two hearts are destined to find each other again, even years are not always enough to separate them thanks to their eternal love .
