Even at 100 years young, the legendary Dick Van Dyke is still stealing hearts.
The beloved “Mary Poppins” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” star was spotted Tuesday enjoying a simple, sweet outing in Los Angeles with his wife of 14 years, Arlene Silver — and while the Hollywood icon needed the support of a walker to stroll, the love between the couple radiated brighter than the California sun.
Photos obtained by Page Six show the pair pulling up to a Starbucks drive-thru for refreshments. Van Dyke, looking relaxed in dark blue sweatpants and a crisp white collared shirt, was gently helped out of the car by his 54-year-old wife. Arlene, stylish in a black off-the-shoulder graphic tee and matching pants, stayed right by his side as he transitioned to the walker and they enjoyed their rare public moment together.
It was a tender reminder that even the most vibrant legends slow down eventually — but the sparkle in Van Dyke’s eyes? That hasn’t dimmed one bit.
This wasn’t the first recent appearance for the six-time Emmy winner. Back in April, he lit up the opening of Malibu Urgent Care, dancing joyfully and chatting animatedly while using a cane and sitting beside trumpet legend Herb Alpert. Arlene was right there with him, as always.
The couple first met in 2006 when Arlene — a makeup artist — worked on one of his projects. They married in 2012 in a romantic ceremony that felt like something straight out of one of his classic musicals. The age gap? Never an issue for them. Van Dyke has repeatedly credited Arlene with keeping him young, vibrant, and far from becoming “a hermetic grouch.”
In a touching interview with “Good Morning America” around his 100th birthday last December, the legend gushed: “I met Arlene in 2006 and she quickly became my soulmate and the love of my life. Without question, our ongoing romance is the most important reason I have not withered away.”
He even joked that being with someone “half his age” makes him feel “somewhere between two-thirds and three-quarters” of his actual age.
On the topic of mortality, Van Dyke remains refreshingly fearless and optimistic. “Some people are afraid of death because they think the person dying is aware of what’s happening,” he shared. “Death doesn’t really frighten me — although I’d like a lot more life!”
