At first, I almost walked right past it.
The desert sun was beginning to sink toward the horizon, casting long shadows across the sand. The wind had been blowing steadily all afternoon, uncovering pieces of rock, old cans, and the occasional rusted relic from a forgotten time.
Then something caught my eye.
A faint glimmer.
A flash of gold among the dust.
Curious, I bent down and brushed away the sand.
What emerged was unlike anything I had ever seen.
It wasn’t a coin.
It wasn’t jewelry.
And it certainly wasn’t something I recognized.
