What is Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS)?
Lou Gehrig’s syndrome is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the motor neurons, the nerve cells responsible for voluntary muscle movements.
It gradually causes:
Muscle weakness
Muscle atrophy
A loss of mobility
And in advanced stages, breathing problems
