Have you ever had a word on the tip of your tongue?
Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten what you were going to do?
It’s not always “age.” Often it’s a sign that your brain needs more movement, oxygen, and stimulation.
According to Japanese neurologist Dr. Masaru Fujita , who has worked with older adults for over 30 years, expensive equipment and complicated routines aren’t always necessary. Sometimes, just one minute a day , well spent, can make a difference in your memory, balance, and mental clarity.
In this article you will discover a simple 1-minute routine that combines tongue, ear, toe, and neck movements , along with three secrets that enhance the results.
The truth about memory loss: it doesn’t appear suddenly
Many people believe that memory loss happens overnight, but in reality it is usually a slow and silent process .
Early signs we often ignore
You have trouble finding simple words.
You forget why you entered a room.
You lose track of a conversation.
You feel your mind is “thick”, slow or cloudy.
We often attribute it to stress, fatigue, or the passage of time. However, these are subtle warning signs that the brain needs better circulation, more movement, and a stronger connection with the body .
The good news: there are simple ways to reactivate it from the tongue, ears, feet, and neck.
The one-minute method: four exercises that awaken the brain
Dr. Fujita proposes four gentle exercises focused on key areas:
Language
Ears
Toes
Neck
Each of these areas is connected to brain areas involved in memory, language, balance, and attention.
The key is not strength, but mindful awareness .
1. Tongue exercise: how to massage the brain from the inside
The tongue is full of nerve endings and fine muscles. Its control is linked to brain areas related to:
Language
Verbal memory
Balance and coordination
When the tongue is rigid or underused, the fluency of thought also suffers.
Benefits that have been observed
Greater ease in finding words.

How to do the tongue exercise (30 seconds)

Move your tongue to the right , as if you wanted to touch the inside of your cheek. Hold for 5 seconds.
Move your tongue to the left . Hold for another 5 seconds.
Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth, as if you were pushing against it. Hold for 5 seconds.
Make circles with your tongue inside your mouth: 5 to one side and 5 to the other.
You can do this mini routine once or twice a day . It takes no more than half a minute each time.
2. Ear massage: activating balance and mental clarity
The ears are connected to the vestibular system , responsible for:
